Habitat’s Expectations for all Approved Homebuyers

ATTEND CLASSES:

All adults who will be listed on the deed are required to attend and successfully complete mandatory programs designed for you to learn and practice budgeting, home repair, and maintenance.

SWEAT EQUITY:

Members of the household must participate in meeting sweat equity requirements.  Sweat equity refers to hands-on involvement of the homeowner in the work of building their house and helping in the construction of other Habitat houses.

ESCROW:

An escrow start-up account will be required. Your escrow account is used to pay taxes and insurance and must be paid in full prior to scheduling your closing.

MORTGAGE:

Once the Habitat Beaver County requirements are completed, we will sell you a home at no profit through a 0% interest mortgage.

PAYMENTS: House payments include the principal, taxes, and home insurance.  House payments are used by Habitat Beaver County to build more houses with other homeowners.  This requires that mortgage payments be made on time.

Equal Housing Opportunity

We are pledged to the letter and spirit of the US policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, family status, age, or national origin
